About this game

Word to Picture gives new readers practice with short, regular words such as cat, dog, sun and bus. These are called CVC words, made of a consonant, a vowel and a consonant, and they are usually the first words children learn to sound out. Your child reads a word, then drags it onto the matching picture. Tapping the word and then the picture works too. Each round has three or four words, so children practice decoding several times without getting tired. If your child gets stuck, sound the word out together slowly, c-a-t, and then blend the sounds into the whole word.
